Launch
The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door debuted internationally in India in January 2023, marking five years since the introduction of the fourth-generation Jimny. Suzuki Philippines officially launched the Jimny 5-Door on January 25, 2024, bringing the highly anticipated, spacious variant to the local market for Filipino off-road enthusiasts and city drivers alike.
Platform, Chassis, and Powertrain
The 5-Door Jimny runs on the 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine, generating 100 hp and 130 Nm of torque. Like the 3-Door, it offers 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions, with the GLX variant available exclusively in automatic. The dual three-link rigid axles and coil springs at both the front and rear make it ideal for rugged terrains, while the longer body slightly increases its curb weight to a maximum of 1,210 kg.
Technology Features
The 5-Door Jimny comes equipped with a 9-inch multimedia infotainment system that supports USB, Bluetooth, and iPod connectivity, as well as displaying the backup camera and clinometer. The GLX variant includes additional features such as automatic LED headlights, cruise control, and automatic air conditioning with a pollen filter.
Exterior
The Jimny 5-Door sports a classic boxy design with rugged touches like wide fender flares and a distinct grille with retro round headlights. Its LED projector or reflector halogen headlights enhance its rugged, vintage appeal. Rear taillights positioned low on the bumper add to its utilitarian vibe, while fender flares give it a robust stance.
Interior
The Jimny’s cabin is thoughtfully designed with durable plastics, fabric seats, and a modernized dashboard. The GLX variant also features audio controls on the steering wheel for added convenience. The fabric seats, designed to provide excellent grip, are ideal for off-road conditions where secure seating is key.
Safety
Standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with brake assist, stability control, hill hold and hill descent control, and ISOFIX tethers. For added convenience, reverse parking sensors are standard, while the GLX variant also includes a rear camera for extra visibility.
