Originally launched by Suzuki Philippines in April 2013 as the Swift Dzire, this mini subcompact sedan is now known simply as Suzuki Dzire. It begs to turn away from having the same nameplate as its hatchback counterpart and is currently on its third-generation model. Like its predecessor, the Suzuki Dzire still hosts chrome accents on the grille and front bumper. But, its overall appearance has completely changed as it now boasts a brand-new headlamp-taillight design, grille shape, and bumper.
The Suzuki Dzire’s interior offers a simple-yet-sporty ambiance for its occupants. The center console houses a seven-inch infotainment system with navigation, considered to be one of the biggest in the segment. In addition, there are rear air conditioning vents plus a 12V socket for added convenience. Powering the Suzuki Dzire is a 1.2-liter Direct Action Intake VVT K12M engine with 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque. It comes with either a five-speed transmission (GL variant) or a five-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) also known as the automated manual transmission.
Launch and Updates
The Suzuki Dzire was launched in June 2018 alongside the Suzuki Swift, featuring a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with options for a 5-speed manual or Auto Gear Shift transmission. Available in three variants—GA, GL, and GL+—this subcompact sedan caters to a range of preferences.
In February 2021, Suzuki Philippines introduced a minor facelift, adding a refreshed bumper, redesigned grille, and upgraded gauge cluster. The revised cluster returned to analog engine and fuel gauges, enhancing the driving experience with a modern yet familiar touch.

Driving Performance
The Suzuki Dzire is powered by a 1.2-liter K12M engine with 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque, efficiently utilizing its power. The 5-speed automated manual transmission is responsive in city driving but can feel laggy during more spirited acceleration. Shifting smooths out at lower speeds, providing a comfortable drive.
Handling is where the Dzire shines, with well-weighted steering for stability at high speeds and lightness for tight maneuvers. Understeer is present during fast turns, but the vehicle maintains a safe, stable feel. The brakes are reliable, though there’s room for enhancement.
Technology Features
The Suzuki Dzire offers technology tailored to each variant: the GA comes with a 1DIN radio, the GL with a 2DIN radio, and the GL+ with a 7-inch infotainment system. A rear air conditioning vent enhances comfort for all passengers. In its February facelift, Suzuki updated the Dzire with a multi-color, multi-information display (except in the GA), returning the fuel and engine temperature gauges to an analog format for improved readability.
Exterior
The Suzuki Dzire sports a sleek design with body-colored bumpers and door handles, a chrome-painted grille, and an electromagnetic tailgate opener. Standard features include front and rear mudflaps and multi-reflector halogen headlights. The 2021 facelift introduced a new 3-bar front bumper, silver foglight housings, and a flatter nose for a refreshed look
Interior
Inside, the Dzire offers a black fabric interior, cabin lights, assist grips, and a vanity mirror for the front passenger. The 2021 update added a modern multi-color, multi-display gauge cluster.
Safety Features
Safety is prioritized with ABS and EBD, brake assist, a pedal release system, and 3-point seatbelts (except for a 2-point lap belt at the rear center). It also includes ISOFIX seat anchors, childproof rear door locks, and side-impact beams. All 2021 models, except the GA variant, feature a vehicle stability control system.
